Morning Report – Tuesday 14th September
FTSE to open at 7,053 (-15 pts)
The S&P 500 fought back yesterday to break a five-day losing streak – its worst run of losses since June.
While Brent crude jumped 0.9% to $73.57 a barrel following a bullish forecast by Opec in its monthly report. Oil demand in 2022 is now forecast to reach 100.8m barrels a day, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Overnight in Asia, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng broke to a nine-day low while Japan’s Nikkei 225 touched 30yr highs as investors anticipated further stimulus from the Bank of Japan.

The FTSE finally managed to hold onto some gains yesterday – helped by strength in oil & gas.
