Regency View:
Morning Report – Thursday 27th May
FTSE to open at 7,023 (-4 pts)
It’s been a relatively quiet Asian session with the Hang Seng retreating from two-week highs due to a small bounce in the US dollar and US 10yr yield.
We have key earnings releases this morning from chemical company Johnson Matthey (JMAT) and insurance giant Aviva (AV.). We also have a raft of US economic data hitting our screens this afternoon, including US durable goods and US pending home sales.
S&P 500 | +0.19% | Bullish for UK stocks |
Hang Seng | -0.28% | Bearish for UK stocks |
Gold | +0.14% | Neutral for UK stocks |
AUD/JPY | +0.02% | Neutral for UK stocks |
US 10yr Yield | +2.05% | Bearish for UK stocks |
With the FTSE now at the apex of the wedge pattern, the market has a big decision to make…
Prices are equidistant from key resistance at 7,167 and key support at 6,852 – hence we’re pretty much in coin toss territory, apart from the fact the FTSE’s uptrend remains unbroken. We’ll be watching closely to see how this develops.
