Morning Report – Monday 15th August

FTSE to open at 7,534 (+33 pts)

Stocks on Wall Street ended last week in fine form with the S&P 500 hitting highs not seen since early May.

Overnight in Asia, the Hang Seng moved lower after China posted weaker-than-expected industrial production and retail sales growth data.

Looking ahead this week, the key event to watch out for is the publication of the Federal Open Market Committee’s latest meeting minutes on Wednesday. This may give some indication of the Fed’s willingness to tighten monetary policy.
