- Lack of Digital Skills
- Low knowledge or confidence in managing finances
Additionally, for those engaged in CFD trading, spread betting, or any other forms of short-term or day trading, certain challenges may be even more acute, including:
- Incurring losses that are unaffordable
- Using funds meant for essential expenses, such as household costs, for trading
- Neglecting work or family responsibilities to prioritise trading
- Compulsively monitoring trades
Indicators that you may be experiencing challenges:
- Putting your and your family’s financial stability at risk to fund trades
- Placing larger trades to recoup losses
- Hiding your trading behaviour from your family
- Concerns raised by family and friends about your trading behaviour
Signs that you may be at risk of physical distress:
- Neglecting your usual self-care practices, such as exercising, spending time in nature, or getting enough sleep, due to monitoring trades
- Struggling to fall asleep due to worries about trades going against you
Signs that you may be at risk of emotional distress:
- Believing that a large profitable trade will solve your financial difficulties
- Sacrificing time with family and friends to have more time for trading
- Feeling helpless and depressed due to your trading behaviour
