UK Sector Snapshot
The standout sector within the FTSE 100 has been Housing & Constriction. US-focused ‘stimulus stocks’ such as Ferguson (FERG) and CRH (CRH) have continued to deliver, whilst UK domestics such as Berkeley Group (BKG) and Rightmove (RMV) have also performed very well in recent weeks.
Weakest sectors have been Mining – dogged by the spread of the delta variant and the damage it has done to the global recovery. And Consumer Defensive which has been hit hard by inflation and a supply squeeze – hitting profit margins and causing Unilever (ULVR) and Reckitt Benckiser (RKT) to gap lower on recent trading updates.
