Regency View:
UK Sector Snapshot
We may be enjoying an Indian summer, but there’s a decidedly autumnal chill to the FTSE following yesterday’s 200-point sell-off.
What started last week with isolated weakness in Banking and Oil & Gas, evolved into a more sustained market-wide sell-off with even previously strong sectors like Metals & Mining and Consumer Defensives taking a battering.
For now, our focus is firmly on the FTSE and whether the bulls can defend support at 5,768. Hence, rather than sector themes, we’ll look for strong individual stocks that have been dragged lower by the market, and for weak stocks which have broken key technical levels.
